National Savings & Investments, like banks and building societies, is required by law to see separate evidence of your identity and proof of your address when you open a new account. Here is a list of documents which will be required as acceptable evidence by NS&I.
• A certified copy* of your current passport or official identity card and
• A certified copy* of a letter or notification from Isle of Man Treasury, Income Tax Department confirming that you are resident for tax purposes, and which includes your name and current address.
They also require the tax identification number for all individuals named on the application form and living on the Isle of Man.
If the purchase is made on behalf of a child, NS&I will need to verify the identity and address of the parent or guardian and, if different, the purchaser. When the child is old enough to take responsibility for the investment/account and asks for a repayment NS&I will ask for evidence of their identity at that time
