Delivery Standards

Delivery Standards

Posted Mail (local to local or IOM to UK and beyond)

We collect from postboxes across the Island during the week as well as many sub-post offices, businesses and Government Departments and offer a next-day delivery service on-Island, with a same-day delivery service available from a limited number of post boxes (specified on our website). We normally achieve 95%+ next day delivery on-Island.

All mail posted to the UK is treated as first class mail and dispatched by a dedicated aircraft Monday to Friday evenings, connecting directly with Royal Mail's next day delivery network. Mail destined for the EU and ROW is then consolidated with Royal Mail's outgoing international mail for despatch to the destination country.

Customs Declarations

From Friday 1st January 2021, the requirement for accurate customs documentation for items containing goods sent to Rest of World addresses will also apply to European destinations and the Channel Islands. When mailing items containing goods to outside of the UK, you will need to accurately complete and sign a customs declaration. A CN22A/B should be used when sending items valued at less than £270, for items with a value higher than this a CN23 should be used.

For more information about customs declaration requirements please visit our dedicated page.

Incoming Mail (UK or international to IOM)

Mail is received into the Island on our dedicated aircraft Tuesday to Saturday mornings each week, augmented by sea containers arriving up to seven days per week. We process this incoming work at Douglas Mail Centre, where our mail sorting machinery and frontline operational colleagues typically handle over 30,000 plus items per day for same day delivery. Mail destined for delivery beyond the Douglas Delivery Area is transported to our Southern, Northern and Peel Delivery Offices where the final sorting for delivery takes place.

We also handle and deliver incoming mail from other third party delivery partners.

During the day each Monday to Friday we deliver all letters, small parcels, magazines, parcels and other items. We deliver priority items of mail and parcels each Saturday.

To provide this service we have a network of over 100 vehicles and around 220 postmen and women working from 6am until 9pm, and longer during busy periods! This extensive network ensures that we get your mail to you as quickly as possible!
