14th November 2022
This week Tynwald will be asked to review Isle of Man Post Office’s Annual Plan 2022-23.
Isle of Man Post Office would like to inform customers that planned strike action in the UK by the Communication Workers Union (CWU), representing postal workers employed by Royal Mail, is due to take place in the coming weeks.
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) representing the majority of postal workers in the UK have announced strike action in the UK (upcoming dates are detailed below). Whilst inevitable that this planned strike action will cause delays to postal services, we recommend during this period that all customers post earlier than planned and stay up to date by regularly checking this page.
Royal Mail have confirmed that they will continue to accept our mail on the day of any action, meaning our outbound mail will be dispatched as normal. However delivery of items will be subject to delay.
We will continue to accept Special Delivery items (and Parcelforce 24 & 48 items) however, Royal Mail cannot guarantee delivery of timed delivery items for items sent the day before, during strike action and until our services are back to normal. We will therefore, in line with Royal Mail, suspend time guarantee services and reinstate as soon as possible thereafter.
Isle of Man Post Office will see disruption in the arrival of mail scheduled for the Island but will ensure mail is delivered as soon as possible when it is received here on the Island. All deliveries IOMPO undertakes for other delivery partners will not be affected and will continue as normal.
Isle of Man Post Office wishes to apologise for the inconvenience this may cause its customers. Isle of Man Post Office and its postal workers are not involved in the strike action and the disruption to our own customers is outside of our control.
