Product Description
Testimonials
  • On special occasions, and during major railway events, a Travelling Post Office (TPO) operates from the Douglas Steam Railway Station to Castletown and Port Erin. It is usually located in coach F49 or in the smaller Foxdale coach F39. A current Railway Letter Stamp is affixed to letters in addition to the postage stamps. The railway letter stamp is cancelled with the Isle of Man Railway TPO postmark; DOWN for Douglas going south and UP for the return journey to Douglas. This Christmas Thomas and Friends cover was carried from Douglas in the TPO to Castletown on the special dining train. The stamps were cancelled with the Post Office TPO first day of issue pictorial postmark depicting the semaphore signal at the platform end of Douglas Station. The cover also bears the Isle of Man Railways IMR cachet indicating that the cover has been carried on the Travelling Post Office.
