Spring Bank Holiday - A personal message from Maxine

A personal message from Maxine Cannon, General Manager Isle of Man Stamps & Coins

Friday 22nd May 2020

Dear Friends

I hope you are all keeping safe. My goodness, what changes we have seen in our daily lives over the last couple of months. I never imagined I would be sitting at our table with my grandson learning how to calculate the lowest common denominator and me researching the Voyage of the Mayflower: 'Life Jim but not a we know it!'

To those of you who have experienced sadness, my thoughts are with you as I too have lost a very dear aunt who succumbed to pneumonia. She took a lot of interest in stamp artwork as she had a passion for painting.

Like so many, we put out our flags and raised a toast to all the veterans of WW2 and their families on VE Day, 8th May. It brought colour and remembrance to our day.

Normally we would be gearing up for the TT Races this weekend with crowds of fans arriving from all over the world. As with most things we are going virtual this year, not sure how the unique smell of Castrol R is going to work on zoom but never say never!

I want to thank you most sincerely for all the lovely comments we received following receipt of the 'Thinking of You' card. It proved it really is “Better by Letter” for both the recipient and sender. Of all the things that I take as a positive from Covid-19, is the realisation by so many that sending letters and parcels still has a very important place in the world we now live in.

I hope you enjoy our new collections and look forward to serving you.

All good wishes and enjoy the Spring Bank Holiday,

Maxine
