Post Office raises its profile at Brighton conference

Despite the many ways we are now able to communicate with each other, the post is still very prevalent in today's world. Moreover, Isle of Man Post is at the forefront of innovation in this field. That was the message delivered by Isle of Man Post Office last week during the Information and Records Management Society's annual conference in Brighton.

Tony Randle, General Manager of Integrated Mailing Solutions (IMS) was a guest speaker at the conference aiming to raise the profile of the division which specialises in business communications. It was attended by 300 information, records and data management professionals from across the globe and is Europe's premier information and records management event.

IMS provides a wide range of services from a digitised and daily personal mail service (ePostbox), mail opening, document scanning, response handling, data capture, printing, fulfilment and franking and holds internationally recognised accreditations ISO 27001:2005 and ISO 9001:2008 for data security and quality management respectively.

Tony's presentation covered how today's modern post office can provide cost-effective mailing solutions to businesses located worldwide thanks to an innovative and forward-thinking approach and advancements in technology.

He said:

"Isle of Man Post Office has unrivalled experience in enabling people to communicate, serving as the main point of contact for delivering communications around the world from the Isle of Man for almost 40 years. Our IMS division can provide tailored services regarding any aspect of data; we can scan physical archives and transfer them into a digital filing system as well as being able to capture and process a variety of data and upload it straight into a business's workflow system. We currently do this for a number of clients worldwide."

It was the first time Isle of Man Post Office had attended the conference. Meic Pierce Owen, Project Manager for Isle of Man Government, is Treasurer of the Information and Records Management Society and is a regular attendee of the event. Along with Simon Ellis of conference silver sponsors and long-term IMS collaborative partners Box-it, Meic was instrumental in bringing Tony to the conference. He believes Isle of Man Post Office's presence as a speaker was definitely worthwhile.

He said:

"I have seen numerous mailroom and scanning operations in my career in the UK but frankly none that compare to IMS in terms of their sheer breadth, skill and flexibility of operation coupled with their no nonsense can-do attitude. This breadth of vision was illustrated by their production of a limited edition commemorative cover marking the Society's 30th Anniversary at the conference. These went down a storm with the 100 delegates lucky enough to bag one! This kind of thinking is precisely why I wanted them at the event and speaking to delegates after the session, they certainly made a positive impression in what is a very competitive environment."
