ISLE OF MAN POST OFFICE USHERS IN THE CHINESE NEW YEAR THROUGH STAMPS

In conjunction with the Chinese New Year that falls on Friday the 16th of February this year, the Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) is issuing a set of two stamps especially for the Year of the Dog, to signify the growing relations between the Isle of Man and China.

These stamps feature two dogs in yellow and red, the two colours that have great significance in the Chinese culture. Red, which is the main colour for this festival, is a very auspicious colour that symbolises luck, happiness and joy; while yellow represents neutrality and good fortune.

The Dog is the 11th sign in the Chinese zodiac and 2018 will be the Year of the Brown Earth Dog. It is believed that those born in this year will have a strong sense of faithfulness and sincerity, and thus will do everything they can for those they love and respect.

Maxine Cannon, Isle of Man Stamps and Coins General Manager said, "The Isle of Man Post Office is proud to present this very special stamp issue in conjunction with the Lunar New Year 2018 - The Year of the Dog. This unique collectable is a symbol of friendship between the Isle of Man and China, as well as testament to the growing bilateral ties of both countries."

The issue date for the IOMPO Year of the Dog stamp collection is the 8th of February 2018. The collection is available for purchase via postal order, telephone (01624 698430) or online

IOMPO offers a 'no quibble' return policy, free worldwide delivery and aims to despatch an order within 24 hours by First Class post (Monday to Friday). For more information about IOMPO's stamp collection or delivery policies, customers can visit IOMPO's website
