Customers to get a preview of new Ramsey Post Office

From today (Tuesday) customers will be able to get a preview of what the new Ramsey Post Office is going to look like when it's housed in the Spar store in Parliament Street.

The layout of the new office will be visible for the public to view as previously the size of the space it will occupy could not be seen, yet it is comparative to its current home in the Courthouse building. Customers will be able to see the layout of the office including the six counter positions, one of which will be disabled friendly and will offer our foreign exchange service.

The new Ramsey Post Office will open for business housed within the Spar store on Monday 20th June and will be the first of the two former crown post offices to move to its new permanent location, under the operation of Mannin Retail. When the office transfers, along with the dedicated post office staff employed by Mannin Retail and the familiar cat Kyle, the opening hours will remain the same: 08.45 – 17.45 (Monday to Friday) and 09.00 – 12.30 on Saturdays. All services currently available at the post office will continue and there will be an enhanced range of stamps and coins products available to purchase.

Whilst the post office is not yet completed, it provides customers with the opportunity to see how this project is progressing. The remaining works will be completed after TT fortnight.

Chairman of Isle of Man Post Office Ray Harmer MHK said: "The size of the new post office will hopefully be a pleasant surprise to customers. Both Isle of Man Post Office and Mannin Retail have taken on board the customer feedback about the suitability of the Spar premise and have worked to try and address the points raised."

He continued: "Improvements to the access into the Spar store will be completed after TT fortnight and before the new post office opens. These changes will assist customers with mobility problems and pushchairs. We are extremely grateful to the Department of Infrastructure who have helped to address a key customer concern which was disabled parking and as a result, two parking bays will be located directly outside the Spar with a third parking bay nearby."

Peter Whittaker, Managing Director of Mannin Retail, said: "Along with our post office partner, we have taken customer feedback very seriously in our plans. We're looking forward to being open for business soon and are confident our Ramsey customers will be very happy with the spacious retail space for our postal counters, combined with the extra choice and convenience of being hosted within our Spar store".
