US Parcel Services Return as Isle of Man Post Office Updates International Services

Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) is introducing a series of updates to its international postal services from Sunday 23rd August 2026 to ensure customers can continue sending items containing goods overseas while meeting new customs and regulatory requirements.

The updates reflect changes affecting postal operators worldwide and are part of IOMPO’s wider work to modernise services, keep international services reliable, and ensure services remain compliant and sustainable for Isle of Man customers.

IOMPO is pleased to be reinstating the US service in line with the new customs requirements. Following system and process changes, Isle of Man customers will once again be able to send parcels containing goods to US destinations.

Customers sending goods to a number of European destinations will also notice changes to the way customs, import VAT and other charges are handled. Where applicable, charges will be calculated and payable when postage is purchased, helping customers understand the full costs before sending, and reducing the risk of unexpected charges for recipients.

Customers sending goods internationally will also be asked to provide more detailed customs information when purchasing postage. The changes are part of new international customs requirements and will help customs authorities process items efficiently, reducing the risk of unnecessary delays or returns.

To support increasingly complex customs requirements, all items containing goods being sent internationally must be sent as a parcel. These services will be available via online platforms and through the following post offices located across the Island:

o   Postal Headquarters, Douglas

o   Strand Street, Douglas

o   Station Road, Port Erin

o   The Parade, Castletown

o   Atholl Street, Peel

o   Parliament Street, Ramsey

International letter services will continue to be available at all Post Offices across the Island.

IOMPO is also updating the weight limit for international Large Letter items in line with wider industry requirements, reducing the maximum weight from 750g to 500g. Customers sending heavier items will still be able to use international parcel services where appropriate.

Simon Kneen, Chief Executive of IOMPO said: "These changes are being introduced in response to new international customs and regulatory requirements, helping to ensure customers can continue sending goods overseas with confidence. We are particularly pleased to be able to reinstate parcel services to the United States, which we know will be welcomed by both personal and business customers."

He continued: "Some customers will notice changes to how international parcels containing goods are posted, where these transactions can be completed, and how customs and import VAT charges are paid”

IOMPO will provide customers with clear guidance and support ahead of the changes taking effect, including information online, at Post Office counters, and through customer service channels.
