Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) is installing solar panels on the roof of Postal Headquarters in Braddan, following a competitive procurement process to ensure best value for the organisation. The project will also add 32 new electric vehicle charging points, supporting IOMPO’s planned transition to a zero‑emissions delivery fleet by 2028.
This investment forms part of IOMPO’s wider sustainability programme and reflects commitments set out in its Annual Plan and statutory environmental responsibilities. The focus is on practical steps that reduce running costs, improve efficiency and strengthen long‑term operations, with an estimated payback in under five years. Once operational, the system will generate a substantial share of the building’s electricity, helping to lower energy bills, reduce carbon emissions and support the Island’s broader efforts to cut overall emissions.
Simon Kneen, CEO of Isle of Man Post Office, said: “This is a practical and responsible investment. It lowers our running costs, reduces our reliance on rising energy prices and helps us move towards a cleaner delivery fleet. We’re committed to making choices that secure the Post Office’s future and support the Island’s wider sustainability efforts.”
