Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) has appointed two new independent retail partners to provide postal services in Onchan, giving customers greater choice and improving access to postal services locally.
Following a procurement exercise, postal services will be introduced at Costcutter – Birch Hill Stores and Shop Local IOM – Ballachrink Stores, Onchan.
Services at Costcutter - Birch Hill Stores will launch on Tuesday 4th August 2026. Initially, they will be available between 9am and 5pm, before being extended to the store's full opening hours, seven days a week. Services at Shop Local IOM - Ballachrink Stores will follow from 1st September 2026. These will also be available between 9am and 5pm initially, with plans to extend them to the store's full opening hours, seven days a week, in due course.
By appointing two new retail hosts in Onchan, customers will benefit from greater choice and access to postal services through locations offering extended opening hours.

This will give customers more choice and greater convenience, while helping us maintain accessible postal services within the community. The procurement exercise also covered Foxdale and Jurby, however no expressions of interest were received. Customers in both communities will continue to have access to postal services through existing arrangements, with the nearest postal counter in Peel for Foxdale and Ballaugh or Kirk Andreas for Jurby. Foxdale, customers can also access some postal services through the existing self-service kiosk hosted at the EVF Petrol Station.
IOMPO remains committed to maintaining reliable and convenient access to postal services across the Island through a mix of retail locations, self-service facilities, Online Postage, free doorstep collections, and parcel collection points.
