NEW PROVIDER OF PARCEL COLLECTION FACILITY IN CASTLETOWN APPOINTED

Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) has partnered with local business S&S Motors to provide a new and improved parcel collection facility for its customers in Castletown and the surrounding areas.

S&S Motors, based on Alexandra Road in Castletown, will take over as the new partner to provide a parcel collection facility for residents in Castletown and the surrounding areas who have not been in when delivery has been attempted at their home address. The new facility will transfer from the Co-op in Castletown, who operate the local post office in the town, from Saturday 31st August 2019.

The appointment of the new partner comes after IOMPO sought expressions of interest to source a new provider following the current provider, Castletown Co-op, tendered their resignation to cease this particular service due to space restrictions at their premises in Castletown Square.

Geoff Rickard, General Manager leading the Mails divisional strategy for the IOMPO, said: "We are delighted to welcome S&S Motors as our new parcel collection provider and believe they will provide an excellent service to our customers in Castletown and the surrounding area who aren't in when we have attempted delivery of their parcel. We believe the new location will be very convenient, providing ample parking and also has the additional benefit of being open 7 days a week 0700-2100, meaning there is always a time that should suit our customers to collect their parcel."

Mr Rickard added. "We are extremely grateful to the other applicants who expressed an interest in providing the service and the interest that this procurement exercise generated. In addition we wish to thank our outgoing provider, the Co-op, who have provided an excellent service for us for a number of years."

As of the same date, IOMPO will be closing the customer counter at the Southern Delivery Office, based in Ballasalla.

Mr Rickard continued: "Our customer counter is only used by one or two customers each day and due to the limited space in the Co-op, items were split between our delivery office in Ballasalla and the Co-op in Castletown when a customer wasn't in to receive their item. Moving the collection of all items to S&S Motors for our customers in Castletown and the surrounding area, will provide a much more simplified approach for all."

All other services the Co-op provide at Castletown Post Office will be unaffected as will the collection of parcels from other post offices in the south of the Island.
