Post Office Counter in Ballasalla to Close on Saturday

Due to a request from the sub postmaster for an earlier termination of the contract, Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) wishes to advise customers that the Ballasalla Post Office counter will close with effect from tomorrow (Saturday).

Sub postmaster Rob Knighton, who announced his resignation in September, had agreed an extension to his contractual notice period until the 9th April 2020. However, due to personal circumstances, Mr Knighton has sought approval from IOMPO to step down from the role earlier than planned.

Social Security Division benefit and pension recipients collecting from Ballasalla were contacted on 13th February to change their method of collection, however, SSD of Treasury are aware of the sub postmasters’ decision to close early, and have asked that any MiCard recipients with concerns contact them on any of the following telephone numbers: 685131, 685098 or 685092.

For anyone who may have an item to collect from Ballasalla Post Office, please be assured that redelivery of these will be attempted and failing a successful redelivery, they will be available for collection at S&S Motors in Castletown going forward.

IOMPO would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Knighton and his family for almost 17 years of dedicated service as a sub postmaster, and wish them all the best in their future endeavours. It also wishes to apologise to customers for any inconvenience the premature closure of the counter may cause. Meanwhile IOMPO advises it is making good progress with securing a new service partner in the community.

During the ongoing Covid-19 situation, some post offices across the Island have altered their opening hours, details of which can be found online on the Postal Services web page
