Isle of Man Post Office Supports Manx Solidarity Fund and Encourages People to ‘Send a Letter and Deliver a Smile’ to Help Carry Us Through

During the week commencing Monday 11th May Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) will be distributing an information leaflet which they have created with Manx Solidarity Fund to every household on the Island.

The information leaflet serves two purposes; one half of the leaflet provides information about the recently formed Manx Solidarity Fund, including how to donate and apply for support and the other half of the leaflet is a postage paid postcard, featuring artwork from the #CarryUsThrough stamps, which can be used to send a message to anyone anywhere in the world, completely free of charge, courtesy of IOMPO.

Julie Edge MHK, Chairman of IOMPO, said “After making a donation from the proceeds from the #CarryUsThrough stamp collection, we are pleased to be able to continue our support of the Fund by providing this all-Island door to door delivery service free of charge. The Manx Solidarity Fund want to bring communities together and we share these values which is why we have also included a postage paid post card so that people can stay connected and send some words of hope, love or thanks to friends or family who may be in isolation. We have a saying at the Post Office which is ‘Send a letter and deliver a smile’ and we hope to see many smiles from this initiative.”

She continued, “I would very much like to thank the Communication Workers Union and our postal staff for agreeing to deliver this item as an exception whilst the regular door to door service has been suspended.”

Patron of the Manx Solidarity Fund, Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Gozney KCMG CVO said, “The Manx Solidarity Fund aims to give financial help to organisations and people who need it most, and who are not covered by the Isle of Man Government’s Covid-19 support schemes.  On behalf of the charity I would like to thank sincerely Isle of Manx Post Office for their generous support in offering the Fund a donation from the proceeds from the stamp issue, #CarryUsThrough.”

“We are also grateful for their support in the production and distribution of the leaflet, which explains how people may apply for help, or donate.  With the leaflet going to every household, the Post Office’s admirable gesture will tell people more widely about the Manx Solidarity Fund.”
